You may recall earlier this month when a woman in Vancouver managed to scare off a giant cougar who approached her while she was out walking her dog, by playing the Metallica track ‘Don’t Tread On Me’ off her phone. As the cougar began running towards her, she began to play the track from Metallica’s eponymous 1991 album. Within moments, the animal let her and her dog Murphy be.

Well, as CTV News via Spin reports, the band’s James Hetfield was so impressed he got in contact with the woman, Denise Gallant, giving her a phone call after the band’s liaison let her know someone from the band would be in touch. Guitarist Kirk Hammett had previously shared an article about Gallant’s incident on his Facebook page.
“I was a little bit lost for words,” she said about receiving a call from the Metallica frontman
“It’s surreal how quickly it happened and how far it’s gone. The fact that he’s so down to earth and such a great person, I’m very pleased to find that out first-hand,” she continued, adding that she and Hetfield spoke about their dogs during the conversation,
“If you had told the 18-year-old me that this would happen, I never would’ve believed it. I would’ve just fallen out of my skin with excitement.”
After the conversation, Hetfield sent Gallant a selfie of him throwing up the horns as confirmation of his identity. “Texting with my buddy James
